NX uses Parasolid for its Geometric modeling kernel and D-Cubed as Associative engine for sketcher and assembly constraints as well as using JT (visualization format) for lightweight data and Multi-CAD.
CUSTOMERS UNIGRAPHICS NX WINDOWS 10
Starting with version 1847, support for Windows versions prior to Windows 10 as well as for macOS was completely removed, and the GUI was removed from the Linux version. NX runs on Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. Supported operating systems and platforms

Parametric solid modeling (feature-based and direct modeling ).Computer-aided design (CAD) ( Design).Release of NX9 (圆4 only) on October 14-2013 Introduction of Synchronous Technology in NX 5. A fully integrated Spreadsheet linked to Feature-Based Modeling is also included.įirst release of the new "Next Generation" version of Unigraphics and I-DEAS, called NX, beginning the transition to bring the functionality and capabilities of both Unigraphics and I-DEAS together into a single consolidated product. In the area of Assembly Modeling the new capabilities include Component Filters, Faceted Representations, and Clearance Analysis between multiple Components. Unigraphics V11.0 is released with enhancements in Industrial Design and Modeling including Bridge Surface, Curvature Analysis for Curve and Surfaces, Face Blends, Variable Offset Surface, etc. Over 21,000 seats of Unigraphics are being used worldwide. Unigraphics becomes GM's corporate CAD system.

UniSolids V1.0 is released, marking the industry's first true interactive Solid Modeling software offering.ĭuring a period of financial difficulties McDonnell Douglas Automation Company (McAuto) sells its commercial services organization, including the Unigraphics organization and product, to EDS which at that time is owned by GM.

The code became a foundation for a product called UNI-GRAPHICS, later sold commercially as Unigraphics in 1975.ġ976 McDonnell Douglas Corporation buys United Computing. The company purchases the Automated Drafting and Machining (ADAM) software code from MCS in 1973. releases UNIAPT, one of the world's first end-user CAM products. 4 Supported operating systems and platforms.(bookmarking this thread) RE: On this day in history. Several of my complaints were addressed with NX11.

There are still annoying quirks about NX and missing features, but I can tell SIEMENS PLM is working hard to close the gap. I've now settled into NX and my list of complaints has shrunk considerably. I'm glad you're still involved in the community and I was even surprised to see your name in general engineering discussion (of the miami FIU bridge collapse). Your breadth of knowledge is vast and I was sad to see you retired recently. I read several of your comments per day any time I google anything NX related (across multiple forums). I'm a CATIA V5 expert and recently changed jobs and had to learn NX9, and then NX11.Īfter a few months of growing pains, frustration at missing features, and learning different ways of new software.I have to say: It's finding someone you can't live without RE: On this day in history. The secret of life is not finding someone to live with

For example, versions R1 thru R3 came out one every month or so, until R4, which actually was pretty stable and was the supported version for a good full two years, until the very end of 1979 when McAuto (by that time United Computing had been completely taken-over by McDonnell Douglas) released Unigraphics D1 (the 'D' standing for 'Double precision'). It wasn't until 1978 with the release of Unigraphics R1 (the 'R' stood for 'Restructured') that a formal release procedure was put in place where everyone got the same version until the next release was sent out, and in those days, while you could technically 'patch' an executable, there were no formal maintenance releases, just new versions shipped whenever. If they installed a system one week and another one the following week, they most likely got two different versions of UG. Yes, when I started using Unigraphics back in 1977 we didn't have version numbers.
